About Me

Hi, my name is Keith Wilson.

Personally, I have been using ACT! products for over 16 years and in my experience, have established that very few businesses ever really use the software to its full potential.

Typically, it ends up being a glorified address book which in my opinion, is an absolute tragedy because it can offer so much more.

The idea of this site and my complimentary site http://www.act-2010.co.uk is to provide the ACT community with everything I possibly can, to ensure you squeeze every last drop out of your software and achieve what is genuinely very possible, better customer interaction, increased customer service and loyalty which ultimately will lead to increased sales

Just looked at your vid – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soJt6O0VkNM
Excellent vid. I had to help a user with this yesterday.
    A couple of notes:
    1. Sometimes it’s easier to create the field from the layout editor
    2. Better to use Network Neighbourhood to get the folder – especially on a server
    3. Won’t work with sync/web users
    4. You might have embedded it in a blog article and linked to that in your tweet

    Hi Ken
Joebrocco in the states here. I find your tutorials very helpful. Have been using using ACT since the v4 days but I always find one or two new things in the tutorials.

    Hello Kevin –
I just watched your YouTube video on Activity Series. This is a great tutorial! I do have a question however. When setting up an activity series, if an activity is to have a letter sent to a client, it is possible to program ACT! so that a letter is sent with a push of a button with the certain fiels prepopulated. for example, I assign an activity to my secretary to mail a letter to a client. that letter confirms a time and date and location of our next appointment. Ideally, she would not have to edit each letter. Can this be done?

      Hi Elias

Thank you for your comment, apologies for the delay in replying but I have been tied up on another project which has takem most of my time over the past few weeks

In answer to your reply, assuming I understand you correctly, the answer is unfortunately no.

The whole concept of the Activity series is to create the reminder for you to carry out a particular task, not to carry out the task itself. Not only that, in respect of sending letters, the ACT templates do not allow you access to the Activity table so you couldn’t incorporate any activity details anyway

That said, ACT 2011 does now incorporate Smart Tasks which in a nutshell, provides basic workflow functionality and does allow you to send an email as part of the process

I hope this helps and answers your question adequately

Have a great Christmas and a Happy New Year

PS: Be sure to pre-register for my brand new ACT Academy which will be launching 1st March 2011, http://www.TheACTAcademy.com
